About Boulder Legacies — The Art of Sculptural Concrete
We don't install rocks — we sculpt environments. Founded by Lucas Speakman, Boulder Legacies operates at the intersection of structural engineering, artistic sculpture, and architectural vision.
Lucas Speakman — Sculptor, Engineer, Builder
Lucas Speakman founded Boulder Legacies with a conviction that concrete is a sculptural medium — not just a construction material. His approach combines the technical precision of structural engineering with the artistic eye of a sculptor, producing environments that look, feel, and weather like geological formations.
A husband to Xylina and father of two daughters, Lucas brings the same attention and care to his craft that he brings to his family. Every project receives his direct involvement from the initial maquette through final walkthrough — there is no delegation of the artistic vision.
His engineering protocol — foam core construction, 12,000 psi fiber-reinforced shell, basalt rebar, Type S decorative mortar — was developed through years of refining what works in real-world conditions. The result: structures that outlast conventional concrete construction by eliminating its primary failure mode (steel rust expansion).
"We Don't Install Rocks — We Sculpt Environments"
Boulder Legacies is not a pool contractor. We are not a landscape company. We are not a veneer installer. We are a custom sculptural concrete firm that treats every project as a commissioned work of structural art.
That distinction matters. It means we do not sell from a catalog. We do not bolt together factory-molded panels. We do not apply thin facades over frames and call it stonework. We sculpt each element by hand, on site, from raw materials — and every project begins with a physical clay maquette so you can see, hold, and approve the design before a single pound of concrete is mixed.
Concrete treated like sculpture. Built, not placed.
Engineering Credentials
Every specification is standard on every project — not an option or an upgrade. This is how we build.
12,000 psi Shell
Fiber-reinforced cementitious shell — more than double the strength of standard concrete construction. Structural permanence built into every project.
Basalt Rebar
Zero rust expansion — eliminates the primary failure mode of conventional concrete. Corrosion-proof, lighter than steel, comparable tensile strength.
Full Waterproofing
Waterproofing at all water-contact zones, densification at waterlines and slide surfaces, comprehensive seal. Every climate, every application.
Originally Built in Florida
Boulder Legacies was established in the Tampa Bay area — Pinellas County, Florida, based in Largo. The Florida years built the foundation: dozens of completed projects, a proven engineering protocol, and a reputation for work that stands apart from mass-produced pool features.
The move to Southern Missouri was a strategic decision — not a restart. The Ozarks region provides a central base for national operations, lower overhead, and a quality of life that supports focused craftsmanship. The portfolio, the process, and the engineering traveled with us.
National Operations
Boulder Legacies is not "trying to go national" — we already operate across state lines. We operate locally in Southern Missouri and travel nationally for projects. Our team coordinates all travel logistics as part of the project scope, and the same engineering standards apply regardless of location.
Current target markets include Scottsdale, Austin, San Diego, Nashville, Dallas, and Las Vegas — but we accept commissions anywhere in the United States. If you have the vision and the property, we will build it.
Proud Affiliates
Boulder Legacies is proud to be affiliated with Vertical Artisans — the leading training and certification organization for decorative concrete artisans — and Fast Break Digital Media, our digital marketing partner.
Concrete. Water. Vision.
Every project starts with a $2,000 Design Investment and a physical clay maquette. We build the model, you approve the vision, and then we sculpt it into reality.
